City facilities will be closed today, January 16, 2023 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. While Dr. King believed the Beloved Community was possible, he acknowledged and fought for systemic change. His example is our call to action. MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all Americans to remain engaged, volunteer, and serve to improve their communities.

Larry is pleased to share that at Tuesday's (1/10/2023) joint City Council and Great Park Board meeting, his colleagues voted for him to serve as Vice Chair alongside Mike Carroll, Chair of the Great Park Corporation Board of Directors for 2023-2024. The Board has many projects in the year ahead at the Great Park, and Vice Chair Agran looks forward to working with the Board and seeing all they accomplish.

Please note that the meeting start time has been moved to 5 pm. The next Great Park Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 24th, 2023.

There are infinite ways to connect with nature, and our City is rich in opportunities for outdoor activities. Our residents can visit and enjoy 18 community parks across Irvine. Community parks are available for rental or drop-in enjoyment.

The City of Irvine park system has been ranked 7th in the nation and second-ranked in California by the Trust for Public Land in their annual ParkScore Index, which ranks the nation’s 100 largest cities based on factors including park access, acreage, investment, and amenities.

For a complete list of parks and additional information, visit https://www.cityofirvine.org/park.../community-parks-centers.

Residents can cut their trees, place the pieces in their green waste cart with the lid closed, or call to schedule a bulk pickup. Note that you must cut trees taller than six feet in half. Residents are also asked to remove all decorations, including lights, ornaments, tinsel, and tree stands.

Multi-family residences without curbside trash service may take their trees to Sunset Environmental at 16122 Construction Circle West, Monday - Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please bring a driver's license or utility bill to show proof of Irvine residency.
