Vice Mayor Larry Agran

Larry Agran is a passionate public servant with a lifelong commitment to making a difference. He graduated from UC Berkeley and Harvard Law School, where he focused on public interest law.

Larry has had a storied career in public service, serving on the Irvine City Council for over 20 years, including six years as Mayor. During his time in office, Irvine became a national leader in innovative programs for public safety, child care, affordable housing, recycling, and open space preservation.

As a dedicated advocate for the community, Larry has founded and led several non-profit organizations, including Project '99, which helped establish the Orange County Great Park at the former Marine Corps Base at El Toro.

Larry returned to the Irvine City Council in 2020 and was re-elected in 2022. In addition to his work on the City Council, Larry serves as Vice Chairman of the Great Park Corporation and represents Irvine on the Irvine Community Land Trust and Irvine Barclay Theatre boards and the City of Irvine Legislative Affairs Subcommittee.

When he's not busy serving the community, Larry enjoys spending time with his wife Phyllis, a pediatrician, and their son Ken, daughter-in-law Kerrie, and two grandkids.
