Special City Council Meeting Tomorrow

A Special Meeting has been called for tomorrow, Tuesday, February 21 at 6:30pm to expedite the discussion of the live music amphitheater at the Great Park. The live music amphitheater is slated to be one of the most significant decisions the Great Park Board will make. The Special Meeting will include a thorough report presented by City staff, an opportunity for public comments (in-person and via Zoom), and City Council discussion and direction.

Last week, the Office of Councilmember Agran and City staff met with a resident interested in a more extensive disc golf course in the City of Irvine. Councilmember Agran thanks our incredible Community Services Department for participating in our meeting at the only public disc golf course in Irvine at Deerfield Community Park. Our office looks forward to continuing to learn more about the sport, possibilities, and community interest within our City!

Councilmember Agran's voting record has been updated with his recorded votes from the February 14th Great Park Board and City Council meeting. The City Council discussed ARDA demolition, the Climate Action and Adaptation Plan timeline, the Transit Vision Pilot Program, and more. If you couldn’t tune in, this is an excellent way to stay up to date on Councilmember Agran's work and what is happening Irvine City Hall!

On Monday, February 6, Councilmember Agran joined Jerry Mandel, President, Craig Springer, Vice President, and Michelle Brouwer, Director of Client Relations to discuss all the exciting events happening at the Irvine Barclay Theatre. Councilmember Agran is proud to serve as a City representative on the Board of Directors and looks forward to seeing all that that they will accomplish this year.

The Irvine Barclay Theatre is a leading presenter of performances by diverse and exceptional artists, providing a state-of-the-art venue for community-based cultural organizations university programs. The Irvine Barclay Theatre continues to broaden the scope, availability, and appreciation of the performing arts in Orange County.

Councilmember Agran is happy to share that the City of Irvine is moving forward with demolition, site clearance, and remediation of the ARDA Site, preparing it for a better future for everyone. On February 14, 2023, the Great Park Board of Directors authorized staff to solicit bids and award construction contracts for these ARDA site improvements. Councilmember Agran wants to assure residents that the demolition process will involve extraordinary measures to tent the buildings and ensure that impacts to surrounding neighborhoods are mitigated.
