Agran and Commissioners tour Great Park
Earlier this month, Councilmember Agran and members of his team joined City Staff for an in-depth tour of the 1,300 acre Orange County Great Park. The Councilmember was joined by Community Services Commissioner Jing Sun, Finance Commissioner Lauren Johnson-Norris, Planning Commissioner Mary Ann Gaido, and Transportation Commissioner Marty Reiner.
Together, the group was briefed on existing amenities and related post-Covid-19 reopening efforts as well as options for the park’s continued development. Afterwards, Councilmember Agran reiterated the incredible opportunity the park poses for Irvine and the county more broadly.
“This park is 1,300 acres, bigger than Balboa Park in San Diego and twice as big as Central Park in New York. The park’s potential is as great as the park is vast. To realize that opportunity, however, it’s crucial that the City works hand-in-hand with residents, especially those of the nearby Great Park Neighborhoods.”
Councilmember Agran believes Great Park residents should be able to count on robust participation and engagement regarding Great Park planning and development as it unfolds. Accordingly, the Councilmember recirculated a request that one of his Council Colleagues join him in agendizing a public discussion to establish a Great Park Residents Advisory Committee. You can read more about that request here.
