It’s a beautiful thing when we get to honor our veterans. Thank you to Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris for hosting the event and recognizing our heroes.

Congratulations to the following 2022 Veteran of the Year Honorees:
Johnny Rojas, U.S. Army - Costa Mesa,
Wayne (Russ) Dohrmann, U.S. Army - Huntington Beach,
Charles J. Quilter, II, U.S. Marine Corps - Laguna Beach,
Donald R. Forden, U.S. Army - Laguna Woods,
Brian Fleming, Jr., U.S. Marine Corps - Newport Beach,
and our very own Beverly Daugherty, U.S. Marine Corps - Irvine.

We are indebted to you for your endless sacrifice and service! I also look forward to furthering our partnership with Flying Leatherneck Historical Foundation and coordinating their homecoming back to the former El Toro Marine Base.

Let the sunshine in! Congratulations to Irvine Unified School District on the dedication of their new K-8 school, Solis Park School. I was happy to join the students, parents and the incredible staff as they came together on such a significant day.

Let’s mix it up! In September 2016, Governor Brown signed into law SB 1383, the most significant landfill waste reduction mandate adopted in California in the last 30 years. The legislation aims to slow climate change by diverting organic materials from landfills, recovering 20% of edible food and redirecting it to food-insecure Californians.

Business and Multi-Unit Recyclers: A total of 2,084 commercial generators (including multi-family) are required to participate in a state waste collection program in Irvine, with 669 of those generators currently participating.
