Councilmember Agran Requests Presentation by the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum

On November 14th, Councilmember Larry Agran submitted a memo requesting a presentation at the November 22nd, 2022, Great Park Board Meeting. Councilmember Agran has asked City staff to invite the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum President and their development team to share an update on the Museum's progress. This is an opportunity for the community to engage with the Great Park Board as the City helps to coordinate the large undertaking of moving the Museum's historical aviation collection back to the Great Park.

“I recently had the opportunity to sit with our veterans and discuss their ideas regarding several aspects of the development of the Great Park. I look forward to working with the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum to ensure that the history of the Marine Corps Air Station El Toro is preserved in a way that complements and enhances the public benefit of the Great Park.” -Councilmember Agran

The Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum is a United States Marine Corps aviation museum founded in 1989 at El Toro and is currently located at the Marine Corps Air Station in Miramar, San Diego County. The Flying Leatherneck Museum is the only museum in the country devoted solely to Marine Corps aviation. Last May, the City Council approved a formal agreement allowing the museum to return to the Great Park.
