Quick Reads | Congratulations to Mary Ann Gaido!
Congratulations to a dear friend and Councilmember Agran’s appointee to the Planning Commission, Mary Ann Gaido. Last month, Mary Ann received the Ralph Kennedy Award at the 2023 Affordable Housing Breakfast hosted by The Kennedy Commission, Affordable Housing Clearinghouse, and the Orange County Community Housing Corporation. In addition to her extensive service to the City of Irvine, Mary Ann has a long and active history of working throughout Orange County to increase affordable housing and advocate for those most in need. Councilmember Agran is incredibly proud of her hard work and dedication to improving our community!
Last week. Councilmember Agran attended the 34th Annual Irvine Junior Games at the Irvine High Stadium. Youth athletes, teachers, administrative staff, elected officials, and the entire community came together to support the Irvine Children's Fund, a non-profit organization that supports school-age childcare programs. In order to maintain a vibrant workforce, it is important to continue providing essential child care scholarships for low-income, working families in the City of Irvine.
Over the weekend, Councilmember Agran attended the 2023 Irvine Korean Cultural Festival held at City Hall. The festivities included several memorable moments, delectable cuisine, gorgeous fashion demonstrations, exceptional performances, beautiful cultural and artwork exhibitions, and a lively K-POP dance competition!
Transparency is important to Councilmember Agran — that is why Councilmember Agran is the only City of Irvine Councilmember to have a public website dedicated to his work as your elected official. The website features a voting record, so that residents know that Councilmember Agran values their civic engagement and work to best represent them, each and every day. Updated in the days following each City Council meeting, this is an excellent way to stay in the know about the happenings of our local government at your City Hall.
Earlier this month, Debby emailed the Office of Councilmember Agran a photo of a tree she planted from a seed he gave her years ago. Look at it now! Councilmember Agran thanks you, Debby, for your dedication to the environment. At the most recent City Council meeting, the community came together to support an investment in our City's urban forest. This is necessary to create a healthier and more sustainable community and environment for the Irvine of tomorrow.
