For a long time, Great Park residents have expressed frustration at the lack of resident involvement in the Great Park decision-making process, especially in light of the fees and taxes they pay above and beyond other residents in Irvine.

Councilmember Agran recently met with the members of the Great Park Residents Association (GPRA). With residents from across the various Great Park communities, the GPRA was founded to support resident involvement in the process of selecting and developing major features and amenities within the Great Park.

The meeting covered a lot of ground, including taxes and fees paid by the residents, cultural sensitivities related to the Veterans Memorial Park, and, more broadly, concerns regarding the City’s lack of communication and consultation with Great Park residents.

Councilmember Agran agreed the residents should be able to count on robust participation and engagement regarding Great Park planning and development. Accordingly, he will be proposing a City Council agenda item to establish a Great Park Resident Advisory Committee to work with the City of Irvine in an advisory role regarding the development of the Great Park.
