Last week, Councilmember Agran had the privilege of joining the Orange County Justice Fund (OCJF) Executive Director, Faby Jacome; Program Coordinator, Tanya Leon; Development Coordinator, Teresa Morris; and leaders from Irvine United Congregational Church (IUCC), Rev. Dr. Sarah Halverson-Cano and Pastor Craig Tyrl. The Orange County Justice Fund provides legal support services to immigrants and refugees in the City of Irvine and the County of Orange. The visit allowed Councilmember Agran to acknowledge and demonstrate appreciation for their unwavering commitment to advocacy for immigrants and refugees, on behalf of the City of Irvine and its City Council.

Councilmember Agran participated at the Cartwright Family Apartments groundbreaking ceremony in the Irvine Business Complex (IBC) with the father-son duo, Barry and Todd Cottle, of C&C Development. Project partners and stakeholders came together to break ground on this remarkable initiative to offer sixty affordable housing units, especially to veterans, individuals with intellectual disabilities, and the formally unhoused. This project is an example of the power of public-private partnerships. Councilmember Agran is proud of the City of Irvine's substantial investment of more than $11 million towards the realization of this project.

Councilmember Agran paid a special visit to the Tierney Center and had the privilege of joining the incredible US Vets team to delve into their powerful mission and undeniable impact on the Orange County veteran community.

US Vets is one of several partners at the Tierney Center for Veteran Services collaborative that provides a front door for veterans and their families — an all-in-one resource — to assist our military veterans, from basic needs such as housing, food, and peer counseling to legal and employment assistance at no cost. Councilmember Agran thanks Juan, Art, Stephen, Randall, and Bryant for their leadership and compassion in serving our veteran community.

Councilmember Agran and residents gathered for a fun evening at the Great Park Summer Dance Party. Residents grooved to 80's music and showed off their best dance moves and outfits.

Mark your calendars for the grand finale of the Sizzlin' Summer Concert series at Mike Ward Community - Woodbridge on Saturday, August 19. This event will feature live performances from the beloved R&B band DW3. Take advantage of this incredible night of music and entertainment.

Catch up on the August 8th City Council meeting, where the community was at the forefront of our decision-making. Following public testimony, the City Council approved the Irvine Animal Care Center expansion and renovation project. Funding was also agreed on to support a pilot school transportation program to University High School for Quail Hill and other distant communities. Additionally, the City Council directed City staff to complete an inventory of public places and locations that may need additional CCTV and security camera technology to support Public Safety.
