Councilmember Agran Funds Local Community Projects

Every year, the Office of Councilmember Agran receives the opportunity to award Irvine-based nonprofits money from the City Council’s Community Partnership Fund Grant. This year, Councilmember Agran is proud to announce he awarded the following organizations funds:

California Cultural Resources Preservation Alliance

The California Cultural Resources Preservation Alliance (CCRPA) is an alliance of preservation advocates working together for the preservation of archaeological sites and other cultural resources. A nonprofit since 2004, the CCRPA seeks to identify, preserve, and protect significant cultural resources, especially those located in California.

Visit their major achievements in cultural preservation at the Village of Putuidem in San Juan Capistrano and the Puvungna sacred site at the Cal State Long Beach campus.

National Alliance on Mental Health

The National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI) in Orange County joins a national effort to improve the lives of people affected by mental illness. Services include a free and confidential emotional support hotline called OC Warmline at (714) 991-6412 (phone call, text, and chat available), as well as support groups, mentoring services, and Zoom check-ins.

You can get involved in advocacy, outreach, and volunteer opportunities. NAMI OC supports families, teens, schools, and community members.

South Coast Chinese Cultural Association

The South Coast Chinese Cultural Association is the largest West Coast center for Chinese language learning and cultural exchange in America. Founded by a group of Irvine Chinese School parents in 1976, the nonprofit has had its own campus and K.Y. Tai Educational Building since 2005. They even sponsored the book Chinese Americans in Irvine, a comprehensive account of Chinese-Americans’ history in Irvine over 50 years.

Newport Mesa Irvine Interfaith Council

The Newport-Mesa-Irvine Interfaith Council acts as a spiritual and ethical force of faith community representatives that enable inter-religious dialogue and service. The organization has events that range from a local National Day of Prayer breakfast to talks and resource fairs.

Friends of Outreach

Friends of Outreach is an all-volunteer, Irvine-based nonprofit that helps support the City of Irvine’s senior outreach programs. The organization conducts service projects, fundraising programs and weekly social activities at Lakeview Senior Center.

Irvine PONY Baseball

Irvine PONY Baseball provides young people aged 3 ½-14 the opportunity to build community and learn skills through sports. The nonprofit hosts leagues for players of all levels and offers scholarships to select alumni of the program!

This weekend, May 27-30 marks Irvine PONY Baseball’s biggest tournament of the year, Irvine Memorial Day. Councilmember Agran was honored that he was invited to attend the opening match.
