In light of ongoing concerns regarding street racing and illegal exhaust system modifications, Councilmembers Agran and Kuo agendized a presentation at City Council in June 2021 (More information on that presentation here). The Irvine Police Department presented on a range of interventions and provided clear instructions on how to report related incidents.

The presentation was met with interest by the community and requests to host additional events including Q&A’s. Councilmember Agran’s office co-hosted the first such community-driven event with a group of HOAs last week.

Residents from Rancho San Joaquin, Princeton Townhomes, and Columbia Square joined with the Councilmember and IPD for a presentation and question-and-answer period.

The Councilmember’s office and IPD are available to host such events on a quarterly basis. HOAs and other community groups affected by street racing and excessive car noise are encouraged to contact Councilmember Agran’s office to make such arrangements.
