Surprising response to Agran’s Memo to agendize CFD discussion
Two weeks ago, Councilmember Agran circulated the Memo below to his Council Colleagues. The Memo seeks to agendize a presentation on the Great Park Community Facilities District (CFD) to shed light on the origins of the program and how the funds are generated.
As the Memo explains, homeowners living in the Great Park Neighborhoods pay special taxes to the CFD to fund eligible public improvements in the Great Park Neighborhoods and at the Great Park itself. However, Great Park residents and the community at large have voiced concerns about the CFD and decisions as to how CFD funds are spent. For more details on the proposed presentation, consult the Memo available here.
Two weeks passed and no City Councilmembers agreed to provide a second signature so the item could be added to an upcoming agenda. Interestingly, just yesterday a Memo was circulated on behalf of Councilmembers Kim and Carroll proposing a very similar discussion. Regardless of how it gets on the agenda, Councilmember Agran is pleased that this important topic will finally receive some attention at the July 13th City Council Meeting*.
UPDATE (06/30/2021, 12:13 pm): At 12:04 an updated Memo was circulated on behalf of Councilmembers Kim and Carroll moving the discussion to the July 29th City Council Meeting.
