Getting Irvine a bold Climate Action Plan
As a City, we need to put forward bold responses to the big issues of our time. This is especially true when it comes to our response to the climate crisis.
As such, Councilmember Agran is proud to report that, later today, his appointee to the Green Ribbon Committee, Dr. Kev Abazajian, will be presenting a resolution to deliver on Irvine’s commitments as a signatory to the United Nations Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
Dr. Abazajian’s resolution is intended to encourage the City Council to develop a bold Climate Action Plan that will reduce residential, commercial and governmental carbon emissions by 50% by 2028 and eliminate all atmospheric carbon emissions by 2035.
This is item #3 on the agenda of the Green Ribbon Committee meeting being held today (Wednesday, June 9) at 4:30pm. For details on how to comment in advance, during the meeting, or watch the meeting live, click here.
